The Senator Jim DeMint & NRTWC Propaganda Letter

Working Men and women need to set the record straight.

Jim DeMint United States Senator

The following is a line-by-line rebuttal to Senator Jim DeMint’s propaganda letter distorting the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) or "Card Check" Bill.

     "I owe these unions."

President Barack Obama couldn't have stated it any more clearly.

Just as clever CEO’s choose to finance NRTWC's deceptive mailing, there are millions of hard working men and women who voluntarily donate to Political Action funds to support candidates who have proven track records of defending and protecting Labor. Over 90% of the nearly half million IUOE (International Union of Operating Engineers) donate a percentage of their pay to protect their livelihood. The IUOE provides each member with detailed analysis of voting track records concerning Labor, in which members utilize in choosing who to vote for.

Although Senator John McCain is an all American War Hero, he lost the election because he was clearly anti-Union. Likewise, Obama was only a Junior Senator with a suspicious community service record, he won the election because he was clearly the best choice for represented workers.  Want verification to support this claim? What other redeeming quality does Obama have? None? There’s your proof.

When Senator McCain started bashing Unions, Obama asked him a simple question that every American should be able to answer; "How many houses do you own?" John McCain was stumped, he had no idea.  Obama cleverly used this dialog to illustrate how the super rich are completely out of touch with the working class and endeavor to suppress Unions that defend and protect working class people. Although McCain was more qualified, working men and woman could not afford to be striped their Union defenses and risk being exposed unprotected before today’s ruthless corporate greed.  Why are auto manufacturers that produce middle class cars going out of business while those that produce ultra high-end cars (Astin Martin, Bugatti, Ferrari, Mazzarati & Rolls Royce) are having record profits? Because the super rich have tweaked and perfected their chokehold on the working class.

     And they want PAYBACK.

Payback? Working men and woman donate to campaign funds for the same reasons corporate CEO’s do. If McCain won, CEO’s would expect him to crush Organized Labor as reimbursement for their exorbitant contributions.

After all, Barack Obama and the rest of Big Labor’s allies have already promised, "What Big Labor wants, Big Labor Gets!"

It’s difficult to imagine Obama making a statement like that, Senator DeMint should have provided a reference quote.

That’s why it’s vital you sign and return the enclosed petitions urging your Congressman and Senators to vote AGAINST the union bosses Card Check Forced Unionism Bill - - and the rest of Big Labor’s agenda - - IMMEDIATELY.

Big Labor? Who do you paperclip counters think you are ridiculing? Big Labor represents the millions of hard working men and woman who make your pitiful leisurely life style possible. We are the Carpenters, Engineers, Electricians, Manufacturers, Mechanics, Nurses, Plumbers, Police, Skilled Workers, Technicians, etc. We are Big Labor, and we have every right to look after our needs and the needs of our families. We have and utilized our right to vote as a means of protecting our interests, exactly as the multimillion dollar bonus corporate executives exploiting us do. "Big" may be the correct terminology, there are a lot more of us pulling the wagon than there are of you riding in it! Our CEO's may have no idea how many houses or Lear Jets they own, but fortunately they have the ability to cast only one vote!

You see, there’s not much time.

At the very top of the Congress’ agenda is the union bosses’ Card Check Forced Unionism Bill.

And the Organized Labor czars wouldn’t have it any other way.

You see, passage of the so-called "Card Check" Bill is all that stands between the union bosses and total control over hundreds of thousands of America’s small businesses…

You are right, there is not much time before the era of exploitation is over! Soon the armor of Organized Labor will expand to defend the rights of every hard working man and woman in America!

...not to mention the hundreds of millions of forced-dues dollars that will immediately be seized from American workers’ paychecks.

Since 1979, no facility represented by our Local (NY, NJ & CT) has ever had less than a 3% annual raise, even now, while we are seeing non-Union facilities suffering wage reductions and severe cut-backs. The Represented facilities maintain a 9% company 401k contribution, while all the non-Union facilities have been cut back to 4%. We have more personal leave, holidays and vacation days. While the employees in non-Union facilities look like they are going to have nervous breakdowns, we are more than content. And we are all delighted to pay the dues that makes all this possible!

If the Union-Label Congress succeeds in passing "Card Check", workers would no longer be able to vote for or against Union Boss Representation in a secret ballot election.

Under the "Card Check" or Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), if the NLRB verifies that over 50% of the employees signed authorization cards, the secret ballot election is bypassed and a union is automatically formed. The EFCA provides that the NLRB would recognize the Union's role as the official bargaining representative if a majority of employees have authorized that representation via majority sign-up, without requiring a secret ballot election.

Instead, the Union bosses would be able to intimidate workers one on one into signing so-called "Union Authorization Cards."

That’s not how it works Jim, in nearly every Union Organization, exploited workers contact the Union. Union Bosses don’t intimidate, they simply bring copies of the Union Contracts negotiated for nearby facilities. The employees are won over by the higher rates, superior medical benefits and contractual clauses protecting them.

So what would the result be?

Bingo! - hundreds of thousands of additional small businesses and millions of additional workers would be FORCED under Big Labor control!

First of all, it is very rare for small businesses to have Union Employees. Small businesses are the ones hiring all the illegal immigrant workers off-the-books. These workers are not paying taxes and they burden our hospitals. Hospitals cannot refuse these illegal immigrants emergency care, subsequently they endeavor to pass the expenditures to legal citizens who can be litigated against, or in most cases go into bankruptcy. Jim, it is very obvious that you do not care about the workers. You are fighting for wealthy employers who contribute to your campaign. These wealthy employers are only seeking to maximize profits by minimizing Labor costs.
